Highlights of the Month
June 2026 was a month of global recognition, deep-tech conversations, and hands-on learning. From hosting the minds behind Torus Motion at Chai Pe Charcha and representing SRMIST at the BIO International Convention 2026 in San Diego, to a month of exploration and training at BioNEST, DEI continued to connect campus innovation with the global stage.
Chai Pe Charcha – From Campus Innovation to Global Recognition
SRM DEI had the privilege of hosting an engaging Chai Pe Charcha session with the team from Torus Motion, a deep-tech startup redefining electric mobility with indigenous axial flux motors and AI-powered controllers. We were delighted to welcome Mr. Ojashwin R, Head – eMobility Solutions, and Mr. Karthikeyan K, Project Manager, who transformed a vision born at SRMIST into an innovation making waves beyond borders.
The session brought together enthusiastic students, research scholars, and faculty members for insightful discussions on indigenous axial flux motors, AI-powered controllers, deep-tech innovation, and the journey of building globally recognized technology from Indian campuses. From transforming cutting-edge ideas into impactful solutions to navigating the challenges of entrepreneurship, the speakers shared valuable experiences, technical insights, and lessons from their innovation journey.
Their story exemplifies how research, perseverance, and innovation can create meaningful impact on a global scale. Congratulations to the Torus Motion team on their remarkable achievements and contributions to India's deep-tech and e-mobility ecosystem — we wish them continued success as they drive innovation to new heights.

From SRM to the Global Stage – BIO26, San Diego
A proud moment representing SRMIST and the Directorate of Entrepreneurship & Innovation (DEI) at BIO26 in San Diego. DEI was honored to be present at the inauguration of the India Pavilion by Dr. Srinivasa, Consul General of India, Los Angeles, showcasing India's growing innovation and biotechnology ecosystem.

Innovation knows no borders. At the BIO International Convention 2026, SRMIST and DEI connected with global leaders, fostered collaborations, and showcased India's growing innovation ecosystem on one of the world's biggest biotechnology platforms.

ScaleHub 2026 – Incubation Leaders Panel Discussion
When startup ecosystems gather, the leaders shaping them take the spotlight. A proud moment for the SRM family as Dr. Ananth Kumar, CEO of SRM Bootstrappers' Research Council, represented our innovation ecosystem as a panelist at the Incubation Leaders Panel Discussion during ScaleHub 2026 – Edition 3.
From empowering founders to accelerating innovation, his contributions have helped transform ideas into impactful ventures. He joined fellow ecosystem leaders to discuss what it takes to build, scale, and sustain the next generation of startups.

BioNEST Monthly Journal – A Month of Exploration and Learning
June 2026 at BioNEST has been a month of exploration and learning. Interns from the Faculty of Science and Humanities and Bioengineering explored 3D bioprinting, while freshly graduated entrepreneurs toiled to build their proof of concept. Visits from biomedical engineers and medical students helped create awareness of the facility.
The month opened with a series of hands-on training sessions: Reverse Transcription – quantitative Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-qPCR) on 1st June, Mammalian Cell Culture on 2nd June, and Western Blotting on 15th June, conducted with Aneuva under the guidance of Dr. Selvamurugan.
On 15th June, intern students from the Biomedical Department visited the facility, followed by a visit from medical college students on 18th June, hosted by Dr. Anand C and Dr. Aneesh Basheer. The month also saw internship students working on scaffold printing as part of their three-month internship at BioNEST.
Closing Note
This month reflects DEI's growing global footprint — from deep-tech startup conversations on campus to representing India's innovation ecosystem on international platforms — alongside continued hands-on learning and research training at BioNEST. We remain committed to fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and impactful research.
